Artist in Residency: Pengiuns

Penguins are an integral part of all first grade math studies curriculum in Portland, Oregon. I have enjoyed creating this lesson to enhance and add to the penguin curriculum. In this lesson, the students create their own penguins, based on penguins they have studied and infused with each students own personality and creativity. Many teachers tie this lesson into their literature curriculum by having students write stories about their ceramic penguin or about the process of creating their penguin.
